Dual Shot front-and-back camera apps are designed for one specific use case: recording both cameras on your phone simultaneously. They are popular for reaction videos, tutorials, and formats that need two simultaneous camera perspectives.
SplitShot's dual mode is about format output, not camera angles. A single recording produces both a 9:16 vertical file and a 16:9 landscape file — so you have both the social-ready short and the long-form version without re-editing.
Front-and-back simultaneous camera capture is in development for SplitShot and currently appears as a greyed-out option in the app. It is not yet available in the live product.

Not yet. Front-and-back simultaneous recording is in development. It currently appears as a greyed-out option in the app UI and is not available in the live product. If you need this today, look at dedicated dual-camera apps like 2Camera.
Dual-camera apps record two camera angles (front + back) simultaneously in a split-screen or overlay format. Dual-output apps like SplitShot record one camera stream and produce two aspect ratio formats — vertical and landscape — for publishing on different platforms.
